Tweet Review: The Dark Horse, Stowlangtoft, Suffolk, UK

As with many bloggers other pressures and the lure of twitter have led me away from blogging over the last 18 months.  Whilst I decide what to do with ITsFood I thought I’d post my recent Twitter review of The Dark Horse restaurant in Stowlangtoft, Suffolk.

Location

The @DarkHorseSufflk http://bit.ly/raSPGu wins on location. You start with a drink in the atmospheric (but slightly dark) stables…

Greeting

We were greeted by proprietor Justin T Bone, very friendly, laid back and… unique. A quick G&T then food time…

Ambiance

The dining area is great, casual/rustic charm, small wine list on blackboards, shirt/tie/jeans clad waitresses…

Starter

Starter: Smoked trout v tasty (beetroot rosti needs tweaking I think), gnocchi was delicious.

Main

Main: Pork belly one of the best I’ve ever tasted, melty and tasty. Fondant potatoes slightly underdone.

Dessert

Dessert: Chocolate Fondant was lovely, Sticky Toffee Pudding was HUGE, enough for two. Nice cup of coffee after.

Cost

Cost ~80 for 2 people, 3 courses, bottle of wine and a drink each beforehand (service not included).

Rating

Overall 9/10. Excellent meal, lovely atmosphere, friendly welcome. Knocks Bildeston Crown from top spot.
