Another Argentinian Malbec, I’m getting a taste for these now :). This comes from the Bodega Norton vineyard. They say “For our “Barrel Select” we hand pick grapes from vines over 15 years old. The wine is aged in French oak barrels and then additionally in bottles before release. The character of this wine shows a subtle balance between grape and oak, resulting in a firm structure, rich flavours and a delicate finish.”
There’s quite a lot of info about their wine on their website, I won’t repeat it all here but the important info is that the wine is drinkable for up to 5 years and is “Deeply red with violet hues. Aromas of ripe red fruits, cassis and popper. Sweet on the palate, friendly tannins with spicey flavours. Long lasting finish“!
Well, blimey. Actually that matches my previous musings about Malbec. It’s halfway between a Merlot and a Shiraz. I liked this wine, it was really tasty and just as good without food as with it. I’d happily buy this again and really recommend if you haven’t tried a Malbec before to give this one a go.
A happy 4 stars!
