IT’s Wine…

Well I’m still working on the Fat Duck posts so in the meantime here’s a few pre-Christmas wine tips.

If you’re fed up with the ubiquitous Cloudy Bay then try the excellent Highfield Estate Sauvignon Blanc. IMHO it’s a Cloudy Bay beater, can’t wait until the 2006 hits the shores of the UK. For a different red wine try Chateau Musar (yes, it’s Chateau not Château) from Lebanon. If you want a full bodied red to blow the socks off your guests you can’t beat it. Best served at 10-15 years old, treat it like any classic red (decant and serve at room temperature). My wife, who is no red wine fan, absolutely loves the smooth richness of Musar, try it.

Where can you get these wines? Well as I’m UK based I’ll stick to UK suppliers but a Google search will help all you others! Most of these wines can be sourced online ( e.g. EveryWine.co.uk or at a good wine supplier). Chateau Musar can be found at Waitrose. My favoured supplier for Highfield Estate and Cloudy Bay is Sheffield based Barrels and Bottles. Don’t you dare buy up all their Highfield Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2006 before me!
