My final post on Firefox 3 (hurrah I hear you say). At the end of download day over eight million copies of Firefox 3 were downloaded. The current total is now over ten million.
Excellent news, enjoy using Firefox if you downloaded it.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Firefox 3 is now available for download. At time of writing they’re close to 5 million downloads on launch day! Click here to see the live stats. Currently just shy of 7000 downloads a minute!
The UK is downloading ~300 copies per minute, trailing well behind Germany, France and Spain. Come on UK, get downloading, it’s bad enough they’re at Euro 2008 and we’re not. Oh, hang on, remove France from that list
I’ve writing this post using Firefox 3 and I’m impressed so far. A couple of my preferred add-ons stopped working as they weren’t compatible. Google Browser Sync is therefore replaced by Foxmarks and I haven’t found anything to replace Tab Mix Plus so far. Maybe I won’t need it? Anyway, give Firefox 3 a go and let me know what you think via the comments.

As our most popular post currently is “How to defrag in Windows Vista” I thought I’d post this for our tech happy readers.
On June 17th the guys and gals behind the excellent web browser, Firefox, are releasing version 3. Promising to be faster, more secure and more customisable than ever Firefox 3 is a real alternative to Internet Explorer. Looking at our web stats almost 20% of visitors to ITs Food (and other sites I manage) use Firefox.
To mark this landmark they’re encouraging as many people as possible to download Firefox in one day to set a Guinness World record.
Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox 3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software downloads in 24 hours – it’s that easy. We’re not asking you to swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although that would be kind of awesome.
Give it a go and try Firefox out if you haven’t already. I’ll be honest with you, I use Firefox about 80% of the time and Internet Explorer for the remaining 20%. Some websites only seem to work in Internet Explorer still but that’s mainly due to poor design and coding on the website rather than Firefox not being up to the job.
If you do download Firefox and try it out, post a comment and let us know how you’re finding it.

There are some really nice wine bottle designs out there at the moment. Tempus Two do some nice bottle shapes and I’m must say, I like the design of our Rosé Of The Year 2007.
One of my favourite “online magazines”, Smashing Magazine, published an article the other day highlighting “Beautiful and Expressive Packaging Design”. In the excellent list they highlighted some very nice wine bottle designs. Here’s what they said about the following (with American spelling)…
1. Sexy, striking, catchy and beautiful — package design by R Design Studio from London. The choice of colors is remarkable.
2. cd&c self-promotion > wine label & packaging. Wine label and packaging. The colors of dots on the wine bottle are chosen very carefully: notice how well they fit to the branding logo on the bottle.
3. Brad Surcey. Strong colors and beautiful compositions. Notice how well the title of the product is emphasized, it strongly and clearly communicates what is inside without revealing too much unnecessary information.
4. Afro Coffee Packaging. Afro by Dalla Cia: a Wine Box radio. Who thought that a radio on a wine label could actually work…
Let’s see more of this I say! I love clever, modern packaging. It’s worth noting that ITs Food Jnr will judge a bottle of wine on the shelves by it’s design first before suggesting we buy it. Marketing Departments take note!
