Brown Brothers Dry Muscat 2005

Brown Brothers Dry Muscat 2005 is a stable in our family, there’s always some in the wine store. It’s a fruity wine which is dry but the fruit is so intense I can’t help describe it as having a slight sweetness. This makes it perfect for drinking on it’s own or for having with stronger food like Indian or Thai as well as the usual chicken and fish dishes. Apparently those in the know reckon this is one of the few wines which goes well with Salmon.

Interestingly I think we’re about to get a delivery of Dry Muscat 2006 as Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s have been selling the 2005 off cheap and Brown Brothers don’t mention the 2005 on their website.

Brown Brothers Dry Muscat 2005 is an excellent choice for summer drinking and I’d recommend you throw a bottle in the fridge to keep for those hot weekend afternoons and evenings. If you see any of the 2005 on the shelves pick it up. The 2006 will be zingy-er I reckon as it’s newer but if you see it, give it a try.

This is a good wine, well priced and perfect for glugging! Four stars.

Well there’s been some reaction to my glowing review of Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2006. My supplier Barrels and Bottles have posted on their blog about me and I received this really nice email from Highfield themselves after I’d pointed them towards my review:

Hi Tim,

That’s great. It’s always rewarding to hear when customers have enjoyed our wines. I have passed on your comments to Alistair Soper, Winemaker.

Have a super day.

Well, I’ll wait for the free case to turn up then…!
