Hi everyone, hope you’re all well and drinking some great wine! Here’s a bit of a review what’s coming up on ITs Food.

Lots of wine reviews to come including a 5 STAR WHITE (not mentioned below)…

  • Errazuriz Merlot 2006
  • La Couronne des Plantagenets Vouvray
  • Los Robles Fairtrade Carmenere 2006
  • Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Gewurztraminer 2004
  • Brown Brothers Dry Muscat 2005

We’ll also be releasing our new blog which we’re working on at the moment. We’re really excited about it and hope it’ll be born very soon.

One final goodie for you today, look at my beautiful new pepper mill!

New Pepper Grinder

It’s a T & G Woodware Aluminium Orbit Mill and it is FANTASTIC! If you get a chance to buy one of these then get one. It’s well made and fully adjustable, like all good foodie tech it feels solid in your hand and looks beautiful.

I bought mine from my favourite cookshop, Marchants Cookware Emporium in Bury St Edmunds for ~£20. You might be able to find it cheaper (and delivered free) at Amazon though, they do have a full range of T & G products online.

That’s all for now. You know I’d really appreciate any comments you have a bout the blog and it’s direction, writing style, etc. Please let me know.

Good Wine: McGuigan Gold Shiraz 2004

McGuigan Gold Shiraz 2004

Wow. That’s all I can think to say. Wow.

Okay, a little more then. This was an excellent wine both for flavour and price. It had the excellent pepperyness of a shiraz but on top of that it was full of lovely fruity (blackcurrant & plum?) undertones. I really enjoyed drinking this both with food and without. As usual a shiraz is great with food especially red meats, I reckon this would be a great barbecues. Now, regular readers may know I’ve had a bit of a bad time with McGuigan wines in the past but this has really put them back in my good books. Well done!

Not too much info on the making of the wine itself I’m afraid. This is one of those funny wines which are made by a major producer, McGuigan, but they don’t have much information on it. I’m assuming it’s an export special, just for major suppliers.

I loved this wine so much I’m seriously giving it 5 stars! I’m going to hold back for the moment and give it 4 stars, but I keep the right to change the rating after I have another bottle.

Great wine, great value, 4 stars.
